Blue and blue

It is not very often that Silloth is bathed in sunshine and the water is calm and sparkles in the light. In my experience it is almost always windy. Today we set out first thing this morning, whilst it was still cool, had a few hours by the sea and were home in time for lunch.

We don’t go to Gordon’s home town very often now, but when we do we almost inevitably meet someone who knows him and his family. Or should I say they meet us, as often Gordon hasn’t a clue who they are or who they are talking about.

Today was no exception. We called in at the Fairydust Emporium, as it seemed to be the only place that had decent coffee. And what a place it is (see extra). Full of olde worlde stuff, glitter and fairies. As soon as the owner knew who Gordon was, she spent a long while telling him all about changes to the town, what his family were up to (many of whom still live in the town), and naming people he may or may not remember, people he may or may not have gone to school with, etc. The two of them reminisced about the shop that was there before she bought it and made it into the café. She was delighted to see him and said – ‘Welcome Home’.

Apparently there is a Fairy Trail, which we may think about for the grandchildren. She was devastated when she couldn’t find a trail map for us. Never mind, we’ll be back. Now I know that it isn’t always windy.
