Dark Green Fritillary
Backblip
We're on holiday at the Lleyn peninsular, North Wales in very hot weather. We normally do walking but the heat was so intense with no breeze that we just pottered around.
There were lots of insects, butterflies and wild flowers and I was pleased to see this Dark Green Fritillary (it's beautiful dark green underwing is an extra). We were also pleased to see choughs on the cliffs (extra). The other extra is a view looking to Bardsey Island.
In the afternoon we were at Aberdaron and thought the best way to cool down was a paddle in the sea which we greatly enjoyed. We also managed to avoid the jellyfish floating around!
It would have been Mum's 92nd birthday so she was particularly in my thoughts. Coincidentally this was where I took her for her last holiday, the beach where we paddled was where she sat enjoying an ice-cream.
At night after having a meal at the pub we stayed and watched the World Cup. The holiday makers were rooting for England and the locals supporting Colombia.
