The Great Ouse
I'm sure I blipped this earier today but its missing so here I go again.
This morning I found myself killing time whilst Kwik Fit sorted out my brakes. I took the camera down to the embankment in Bedford to takesome pics. You have to hand it to the Victorians, they knew a thing or two about municipal design and planning. This stretch of the Great Ouse (as opposed to the lesser Ouse in Yorkshire!) was a muddy, swampy flood plain until the Victorians turned it into a place of promenades and parks. Near to here is where Bede is supposed to have created his river crossing, hence Bede's Ford, or Bedford.
