Poppy Friday
I was out the house early to get groceries, as I knew I had a busy day. The traffic to the supermarket was horrendous, I think there was a problem on the M25 which has a knock on effect all the way through Cobham. So I had plenty of time to admire the new lot of poppies that had come through on the village green as I sat in traffic, and on my return journey I stopped to take some photos of them as they won't last long. It has been so hot again today and no sign of rain. Tomorrow they say it will reach 31C.
Then I went to Guildford to meet some friends - we have an annual lunch every summer to catch up, but this year all of us were quite busy so it was a quick salad lunch at a charming pub. I have added an extra, we sat outside under the parasols but it was still so hot, there is no breeze today.
Tomorrow is end of term (and end of the year) for Thomas, and our day starts early with a chapel service followed by prize giving and speeches and then we picnic in the grounds around the 1st team cricket pitch while we watch the match. However due to the football match at 3pm the schedule for the day has been rearranged, so instead of the tea and a jazz concert at 3pm, the concert has been moved to directly after prize giving and tea will be served at 3pm where there are big screen TVs so people can watch the match. I have been busy making food for the picnic and now I am off to the leaving music scholars concert. Its always a terrific show with the full symphony orchestra accompanying one of the leaving musicians as they perform their solo piece.
