Abbey Refectory

This beautiful cross, about eight feet tall, is on the wall of the refectory in the Abbey here on Iona. Normally this party of the abbey is off limits to visitors, but as the community are not in residence this year while accommodation is being refurbished, a temporary cafe has opened. The food is lovely and well priced and you get to see parts of the abbey otherwise unseen.
I was pleased to see a picture of a friend of mine who died, far too young, last year, in a leaflet advertising the current appeal. She would have been pleased, Iona played a huge part in her family's life.
