Piccolo mondo, from Kiel, rounds the North cardinal buoy on its way from Inverness Marina to the sea lock of the Caledonian Canal at Clachnaharry.
It was only after looking at this photo, that I noticed the buoy appears to have been changed for a much more substantial one. It should be better suited to the strong tides here, as illustrated by the eddy created behind the buoy in the outgoing tide. The much lighter construction of the original buoy, meant that it would be pushed to horizontal in some spring tides. Light seemed to keep working, so it was well sealed up.
