Princes Street again...
Today was an excellent day for street photography in Edinburgh. Which is not to say that I got any excellent pics. I didn't. This is the best of a mediocre bunch. If the scene looks familiar, that may be because it was taken from pretty much the same spot as this one by 42. I like his pic better than mine... but this isn't a competition and I like mine enough for it to be today's blip :-)
Shortly before taking this pic, I carried out an impromptu equipment test. A combination of cold weather, big gloves, small camera and clumsiness meant that I dropped my camera on the pavement from about waist height. I'm please to report that the Canon IXUS 870IS is a sturdy wee machine... It bounced... the door on the bottom flew open... the battery popped out... I put it all back together again... and it seems to have survived perfectly, save for a couple of scratches. I would not, however, recommend that any of you try to repeat this test for yourselves.
