Gone fishing

This morning we packed up some lunch, and headed down to the Matakitaki River to do a spot of fishing. Unfortunately there were no trout to be seen; the only things biting were sandflies. We spent 3 and 1/2 hours down by the river. It was lovely and peaceful, and nice listening to the birds singing. We all sat on a log on the river bed and had our lunch.

It is amazing how much the course of the river has changed since we last went fishing at the end of March. This change has been caused by the floods that we had over the winter months.

This photo is son T, who was determined to catch a fish. Unfortunately his determination didn't make one bit of difference - there just weren't any trout around today that were interested in being caught.

We have a lovely sunny day, although the cloud and wind is starting to come up now. Tomorrow is meant to be wet, although I don't think we will get too much rain.
