Through the square window
A new record for this heatwave; we hit 34.4 degrees today. I smelled gas outside again this afternoon and realised the valve on the tank was releasing pressure again but at least it was working properly, unlike last week when we had to call out the engineer. Five minutes with the hose pipe to cool the tank and it all stopped, although it felt a shame to be using all that water when it could have been on the garden. In the 24 years we have been in this house we have never before had the heat build the pressure to such an extent that the safety valve has cut in. We've had all the curtains closed to keep out the sun and I rather liked this reflection of the shutters in the bathroom in the shower cubicle. The window is actually wider than it is high, but the curvature of the glass has distorted the view.
