Bacon cake for breakfast in a cafe / bike shop/ retro furniture shop. Bacon from just down the road and a lovely chatty owner. Then off to hull for the day to check out the city of culture. Lots of gorgeous buildings- blend of Victorian and older and very contemporary- and usually very well done. Old dock area has been very cleverly renovated. Shame though that there are endless pubs and bars with really loud music and endless 'gourmet' burgers. Would have liked more of a mix of cafes bars restaurants etc and some interesting independent shops. Good city art gallery and museums though. Dinner in a lovely village pub- theyhad ran out of my first two choices but what I got eventually was tasty.
