Life through the lens...

By ValC

On top of the world.

Or at least Malham Cove.

What a joy it is to show friends the beautiful Yorkshire countryside.
You see it from a different perspective.
We have all had a wonderful day.
Walked from Malham village to Janet’s Foss.
Almost dried up. Never seen the water fall just trickling over the top. (See extra)
Then to Gordale Scar. No water at all!
Stopped for a coffee, and then walked up to the top of Malham Cove.
They were just blown away by the views and scenery. We take the stone walls and old barns for granted, but they had never seen anything like them before. They loved the patchwork patterns the walls made over the hillsides.

When we reached the top it was the limestone pavement which stunned them, along with the view looking down the valley, and the hills beyond.

I just love the photo I took of K, G and Scrumpy on the top, and so this had to be my blip for today.

We finished with a delicious meal at the Listers Arms in Malham.
A quintessential old Yorkshire pub, with a modern twist.
We had the meat platter, all homemade. Roast ham, pork pie, duck spring roll, hot mini sausages, spicy potatoes and chorizo, chutney, pickles, assorted bread, and chunky chips.
K and G had the fish platter.
Very friendly staff, excellent service, lovely tables outside.
They even made their own dog biscuits, and gave Scrumpy 3.
We will definitely be back.

Just such a happy day for us all, and perfect weather for walking. Some sun amongst the clouds, and about 24C.
A day we will all remember.
