Helsinki day 1
The day has finally arrived. Super excited. Edinburgh airport was a mess, no indication of where you were supposed to go (are we meant to "just know"?) and eventually a gigantic and very slow moving queue for the Helsinki flight. Having arrived with 2 hours to spare, we then had to run to catch the plane. Very annoying. However, we got there. I successfully order coffee in Finnish on the flight and also return bus tickets from the airport. Go me!
We checked into the hotel to find twin beds, d'oh. Unfortunately when I booked them, there was a disclaimer about this very possibility so not much we could do. I did get a fantastic nights sleep for the next five nights though. Co-incidence?
The hotel is huge and filled with hundreds of young girls as it turns out there is a world cheerleading competition on. They were very behaved but there were an awful lot of them!
We had a wander in the sunshine. The extra shows a statue of Marshal Mannerheim.
