My son's partner is very involved in the village where they live and yesterday after a church meeting she brought home a ball of red knitting wool.   When I asked what she was going to make I was somehow volunteered (duped) into knitting or crocheting poppies for the Church Tower Appeal.   They are hoping (optimistically I think) to have enough poppies made to cover the Church Tower for Remembrance Sunday to mark the WW1 100 years anniversary.   I've said I will make as many as I can get out of the ball of wool.
The bottom 'poppy' is using their pattern the top 'poppy' is a pattern I found on the Internet, I think I prefer the top one.   The bottom one looks like a drinks coaster to me!!
