The dropped stitch

Nil Desperandum

My final day in Shetland.
Grey sky, poor old boat, and there WAS a feeling of despair lurking.

I did what I could to lift the mood - retail therapy and a look into the museum.

This old fishing boat, nearly 70 years old, had a busy life working in the seas round Shetland. A few years ago it was bought by the Shetland Amenity Trust and a group of enthusiastic volunteers was going to restore it. Not sure what happened about that. There was a blipper nearby who probably could have given me the answer, but it was not a day for bold approaches to 'strangers'. Next time!

The strange looking grey building in the background is Mareel. New(ish) arts centre, cinema etc. It's better once you're inside, and the view from the ladies toilet is breath-taking!
