Proud Mummy Moment

3years 20days

Today has been one packed day! We started out with her ballet class. She was a little nuts this morning - wouldnt stop wiggling and jumping every second that she wasnt doing an instructed movement/activity! But nuts in a happy and loving it kind of way.

We were meant to be going away today, but I decided it was just too much, so we decided to have a "staycation weekend". Lots of lovely Mummy and Baby activities and time. After class, we went into the city and bought tickets for the theatre for tomorrow afternoon. We popped into a couple of shops. For the first time, while in the shop she picked a whole outfit for herself. She picked a pair of black leggings, a stripey top with "I love to dance" and a ballerina on it, and a jumper dress with a ballerina and little tulle frill. The whole lot matches beautifully, rather unusual for Katie! But its a cute outfit, girl done good.

We went in to the shopping centre to go to the "Muppet Shop" (Disney Store), which isnt far from the cinema, so we ended up having a look at what was on. It turned out Madagascar 3 was not long from starting and we have both liked the look of it. 2 tickets and a toddler snack pack later, we were sat happily in the cinema, all to ourselves for a good while. She loved her little box of popcorn and mini oreo packet. Most of all, she loved that the seats were proper seats not flippy bottom seats, so she could sit in it! She held my hand all the way through the film.

We stopped for an early tea before getting our train home. She was just a lot excited because the final part of the day (as blipped) was her very first big girl's swimming lesson. Not an aquatots class, with Mummy in the water, but her and her teacher in the water, mummy watching outside. She'd never met the swim teacher nor any of the 3 other children. However, she went straight off after a kiss, giving the teacher his requested high five as she went in.

During her class, she did everything asked, with the biggest grin on her face. She looked a little bemused at the idea of being towed along on her woggle, her only task to kick her legs behind her, though she went along with it happily. After a couple of widths, when the teacher appeared to ask who would swim it on their own, Katie immediately put her hand up and went off on her woggle. The teacher was great with them - he, a fairly large built guy, was in the water and jumped around in the little circle to "ring o' roses". At the end of the lesson, they get "free play". Katie looked a little disgusted at the others who went and threw water over each other, chucked balls around. Katie? She dunked herself twice and then swum six widths without the woggle, barely touching the bottom. The teacher chuckled at her a few times, but stopped and gave her another high five. When I met her from the pool, she had a huge grin on her face and was so proud of her little self.
