Pictorial blethers

Sweet favourites

Last summer I planted sweet peas too late for them to have any real chance of flowering - and of course there was the weather ... But this summer they've flourished, thanks to my pot-waterers on the two absences since I planted them. I love the way the flowers seem to appear as if by magic - one day they're unpromising little things, the next the stems have sprouted and they're out!

The heady scents of late June have lessened with the passing of the Philadelphus and the lilies, but these little gems and the roses are doing their best. And they say it'll rain on Sunday ...

My extra photo is a chocolate-box one of the Firth of Clyde this afternoon, taken from just south of Innellan.
