Sunday: Message
We started the day by watching the World Cup final which was on at 0800 here. We were so disappointed - we had so wanted Croatia to win but, still, they did phenomenally well to even get to the final.
It was a real scorcher today so we didn't venture very far. We did have a bit of excitement this morning when I came in to the kitchen only to find myself eye to eye with a raccoon coming in from the garden. I'm not sure who jumped higher - he scampered off under the deck so seconds later there was some unseemly scrabbling as said raccoon and Barney encountered each other. Barney seems fine and none the worse for his encounter.
I thought I would share K's sunglasses cord with you which she purchased in Mexico. It often gets us into conversations with people who see it when standing behind her......

Read a few good books recently. Suzanne St Alban's memoir, 'Mango and Mimosa', of growing up in pre-war France and Malaya. It was one of the special Slightly Foxed editions. They're not bad although pretty lacking in diversity. All the authors they reissue are of a certain type......
I also read Nathanael West's 'The Day Of The Locust', an excellent tale of the debauchery of 1930s Hollywood.
