There is huge affection in Calder Vale for P, the lady in the black coat in the middle, who recently turned 100. She has been singing in the church choir for over 90 years and once again today laid the first wreath at the war memorial with great dignity.
A couple of years ago I bought a cup of tea at the harvest festival and commented on how pretty the china tea cup was. I was told that it had originally belonged to P's sister who had married shortly before the war but her husband never returned, the tea set had been a wedding present.
