The dropped stitch

Stone strainer gate posts

Morning helping in the shop. 3 coach visits. All went fairly smoothly.

Wool discussions with Poppy in the afternoon.

We were choosing colours for our Wool Week hats. Each year a Wool Week hat pattern is published. This year's is called the 'Merrie Dancers Toorie'. Very appropriate for us, since we are merry dancers every fortnight in the village hall. (The colours of the pattern are also meant to suggest the bright Northern Lights in a dark sky).

Today's photo is an example of stone strainer gate posts with a modern galvanised gate. South Ronaldsay.

I've been looking out for these since reading the aforementioned 'Orkney Dykes'.
