2018 Tuesday — Ducks

We see lots of birds on the shoreline and we walk our dogs on the sand often, but we seldom, if never, see ducks. They were using their beaks at the water’s edge to shovel for sand crabs. It was a little after 5:00 p.m. I guess sushi was on their menu this evening.

As we got closer with our three pups, the ducks moved out into the water and it was a kick to watch these five riding the waves. I put a video of them on my Instagram page, located at carolwithmr.fun if you would like to view the ducks in action.

This has been a good Tuesday. Here in the neighborhood the folks right across the road, Eve & Cedric, are having all the wood railings replaced on their place (the lumber for the job arrived the Friday before July 4th). They rent the house and moved in this past December; at Kurt & Kelly’s House (next to Eve & Cedric on the south side) four families of vacationers are having a fun week; next to us on the south side, Judge Coyle’s house is still For Sale. It has been a vacation home for the Coyle family since they bought it in the early 1980s. The judge died about six years ago, about the time we were purchasing our little house. We see someone from the Coyle family about twice, maybe three times, a year. It went on the market in October 2016. Next door to us on the north, Michael & Roger have their home For Sale. It’s been on the market about five weeks. We walked thru it on the day of the Open House for realtors, which was June 22. A person would never guess from looking at the outside that it’s so beautiful inside. They have a very lucrative AirB&B business. They have two separate bedrooms with bathrooms and both are sold most every night. There are approximately 55 homes For Sale here in Cayucos at the moment. Then, next to Michael & Roger is Mike the Bike & Leslie. Mike is a retired fire chief and now days he works on motorcycles in his garage. He’s a wonderful man and we enjoy talking with him. Across from Mike & Leslie are Mark & Karen. He is a retired podiatrist from Bakersfield, but went right back to work when they moved here permanently to the Central Coast two years ago. Right next to Mike the Bike on the north are Bill & Teddy. Their house looks a lot like ours and we think theirs was built in 1932 about 10 years before ours. Bill’s parents, who are both dead now, purchased the house in the early 1980s. That’s the news in the neighborhood.
