Innerleithen Games Week
I went to visit J in Innerleithen today and found the town full of blue and white bunting for Games Week. In addition there were plaques on some of the houses with the names of office bearers going right back to the Sixties. I haven't really got my head round what goes on, but it seems that there have been races held since 1827, and Innerleithen claims that this is Scotland's oldest organised sports meeting. During Games Week there are also the "Cleikum Ceremonies" which celebrate the town's association with its Patron Saint, St Ronan and first took place in 1901. Here are a couple of links if you want to try to make more sense of it than I have been able to do so far:

I will come back to this if I can get a coherent account of what goes on.
