Härnösand from the Water
Jan had a few errands in town so I fitted the new kayak stand onto the roof rack, loaded up the kayak, and she dropped me off so I could paddle around in town for a change. I paddled for 90 minutes or so and then we met up again. There are two opening bridges in town, so boats can come up the South Sound, into the sea pool in the middle of town, and then out into the North Sound, or the other way if they prefer. This is the New Bridge, well over 100 years old, but newer than the other bridge!
We were in town again this evening, in the Cathedral listening to music form the 12th, 13, and 14th century, including three pieces by Hildegard of Bingen. Beautiful music and very contemplative - occasionally I would like a little more action but that came in later centuries.
Tomorrow they'll be more water activities as the sea is now warm (only the second time in thirty-five years that the sea actually feels warm) and the lakes are now at 26°C, apparently a local record.
