Act of remembrance

Like many, many others I attended the annual Act of Remembrance at the Norwich War Memorial this morning.

In addition to the formal wreaths that were laid, there were several simpler, individual tributes placed including single poppies.

Today I was standing in the same place that the far right English Defence League held their rally, a little way from the War Memorial which had been cordoned off yesterday.

It felt strange but somehow as I walked away from the Act of Remembrance I felt that the pavement had been cleansed of their disgusting presence.
