Bugged
I've recently seen some amazing insects near the front door in the morning when I step outside to pick up our local newspaper. There were two very different ones on the side of the house this day.
I wish I'd been able to see how the cranefly starring in this blip took off from that position! Its head reminded me of a horse's skull.
The elegant, furry-looking moth in the extra photo was only a few inches from the cranefly. After some online research, I determined that it was a Habrosyne scripta (Lettered Habrosyne) moth, common to northern forested areas.
The natural world is a wonderful antidote to the constant stream of poison emanating from the White House these days.
