Maternity Ward
Well, that was a great day. We decided yesterday that today we would take one of the boat trips out into Blakeney Harbour to see the seals, and what a good trip it was! We took a small boat out from Morston Quay at high tide, and travelled out to a sandbank where the seals were to be found. Apparently at low tide a lot of the area is out of the water but at high tide it felt as though we were out at sea even though we were still in the harbour area. There were hundreds of seals, largely pregnant females, lying on the beach, and a lot of males and females in the water. They are inquisitive animals so several of them came right up to the boat for a good look at us too. It was lovely to be able to get so close to them and to see them in their natural world.
I've added a couple of extra seal shots and one of a sailing boat that we passed in the harbour. For anyone interested I've also added a shot taken from roughly the same place as yesterday's Blip but at low tide. I couldn't replicate the shot exactly as there were cars parked where the water was yesterday!
