The Hub of the Universe

Another beautiful sunny morning spent playing "tourist" with Memories4Me and our cameras.  This is the plaque embedded in the sidewalk outside the old Filene's department store in Downtown Crossing, proclaiming Boston's geographical location as "The Hub of the Universe".  The explanation behind this rather grandiose distinction is that Oliver Wendell Holmes originally referred to the State House as "the hub of the solar system" in the 1800's, but over time that phrase morphed into the current ambitious claim to fame.  Boston is still referred to by some people as "The Hub".
