Sunday afternoon treat
Remembrance Sunday always makes me reflective, as indeed it should. I find the services both at church and at the cenotaph immensely moving. The year we were in Ypres for the Remembrance service will haunt me forever, it was two years ago and I still cannot talk about it without crying.
Then my lovely Cornishman has gone back after surprising me with a visit for my birthday and I'm watching the last episode of Downton again. So I'm all a bit of a sobby heap.
Yes I know Downton is cod history and Mr Fellowes knows exactly what he is doing, but it is no less enjoyable for all of that. I will miss it dreadfully on a Sunday evening.
I felt that a 'little something' was required. As I had strawberries and clotted cream in the fridge it was practically law that I had to produce some scones...
Food is bloody difficult to photograph attractively I have to say. Especially when you have a teenage Maine Coon wanting in on the act.
(and the worst of it is that I can't eat scones... *sob*)
ETA: Just to clarify, my daughter can eat scones! And also needed a little treat :)
