Lava (again)

Lava fields at Krafla.
These lava fields are relatively recent, formed between 1975 and 1984. The black lava stretches for miles and miles. If you look closely you’ll see people at the base of the ‘mini volcano’.
In places it still smokes and nearby there are bubbling mud pools and sulphurous vents.

Morning: driving through the barren north east, an almost desert-like landscape. And Dettifoss, Europe’s most voluminous waterfall.
Afternoon: lava fields, crater lakes, bubbling mud.
