Countryside
Travelling to Oudtshoorn today to wish my Mom's sister, Fransie, a happy birthday.
Oudsthoorn is 60km's from George, and is situated in the Klein Karoo where it can become extremely hot and dry.
Today was only 34 degrees, but there was very little green to be seen on our way to Oudtshoorn.
As our winter is approaching, this is the time when farmers prepare for the long, lean, cold months ahead. But I am afraid, there is not much to be saved and put away.
I stopped about 30k's from Oudtshoorn to blip this country image. This is farming area where they farm with ostrich, cattle, and sheep.
Wines, like port, have also become a farming commodity.
The mountain range at the back is the Outeniqua Mountains and the clouds rolling over are from George-by-the-sea. Although it carries moisture, conditions are such that it is unlikely to rain at the moment.
We had a lovely day, and as we came back over the Outeniqua mountains, the change in weather was dramatic ....
I doubt that the temperature outside in the pass reached 20 degrees, and I was almost blown over by very strong winds as I was trying to blip.
