Remembrance Day
Up showered, coffee and toast all done by 09:15, out of the house 09:40 and being interviewed on film by 09:50.
It was a bit like the last time I was interviewed 'live' on the BBC when having been given the list of questions beforehand I was then 'ambushed' with questions about the capture of HMS Cornwall's boat crew by the Iranians.
This time a couple of questions about how I thought the government treated veterans and about what I thought of the benefits available to veterans sneaked in.
Following a couple of glasses of port with the Mayor and the 'great and the good' I met the lovely Bella 'T' complete with wreath on The Moor accompanied by 'Snowie' before heading off in the Veteran's Platoon to the ceremony.
The RNA drew up the plans for this years Remembrance Service and by and large it went well, the aim was to get the youth organisations closer to the action and at the front when we returned to The Moor, with a few 'tweaks' we will have it right for next year.
I always find the whole Remembrance 'thing' very emotional, I preferred it when I attended as an individual but I guess I'll get used to the more formal bit in time.
After the parade I followed three inches of malt whiskey in a tumbler from the Mayor with a cheese toastie and a large coffee in Cafe Nero before heading home.
