Remembrance Sunday
I went along to the War Memorial at the Town Hall this morning. I was amazed at how many people were there, it was truly fantastic to see all ages there. The Manchester Pipe Band were playing, the army and cadets were there and some veterans. When they marched along Chorley Road it choked me and I was filling up, so I was glad to hide behind my camera.
I took quite a few pics and asked some people if I could take their photograph. There were so many proud people there: a little boy with a medal pinned to his jacket, a man in a hoodie but wearing a row of medals with so much pride and then there was Mr Appleby. I spotted him as he walked slowly away from the Town Hall after the march past, he looked immaculate. Smart coat, beret worn perfectly and his medals displayed on his chest. He agreed to have his photograph taken and then pointed to one of his medals...:This was my father's, he was in the RAF, he flew bombers in the war."
Today really was a very moving day.
