Muses nag
This sculpture of a three legged troyanic horse is called " The nag of the muses" and is installed in front of the theater in Karlsruhe.
After his last working day for four weeks, we started our vacations with a visit at the opera Lucio Silla.
We are not used to go to the opera. To be honest, it was the first time and it was fabulous! J. had spotted this event because of one of the actors: Franco Fagioli, a famous countertenor.
(J. had sung as a countertenor himself, ages ago)
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart wrote the opera aged 16. It is about the cruel, narcisstic, Roman tyrant Lucio Silla. Everybody hates him and they want to kill him, but fail. The actuality of the topic was obvious.
The production was modern and very clever. The singers were brilliant.
(Not used to arias we tended to say: okay, after listening 5 or more minutes to the same sentence, we understood what you wanted to tell us)
The very dark and depressive opera ended with a Happy End. That was, how operas had to end in Mozarts times: Silla stopped his tyranny and everybody was finally allowed to marry their love.
So there is hope for the overwinning of the current tyrants, even history writes its own rules (No happy ends guaranteed)
A special thank you for R., who came from Frankfurt to care about T. and Omo, that made our experience at last possible :-)
