Elegance always stands out
I went to Ichiba, Westfield today on a prop buying trip and to enjoy the air conditioning. Sadly both were disappointing. Ichiba, the new Japanese food hall and grocery is part of the Japan Centre chain. I love the branch in Panton street which is full of eclectic and interesting things.
Sadly the Westfield shop is a bit of a disappointment. There are a few traditional food stalls, with noodles and okonomiyaki, however they were small and underused. Sushi is prepackaged and clumsily made with a definite Western slant to ingredients. Furthermore I didn't find my plates.
After a quick Japanese meal deal and failing to find a bin to clear up my food, or anywhere to leave trays or clear tables, I headed off to High Street Ken (where I took this shot).
Newly opened Japan House is at the opposite end of the spectrum. Laid out like an art gallery and with good aircon I found what I was looking for immediately. It looks very high end but what I found was not expensive.
