X marks the spot

Had a lovely visit to Mom's today. Although my Dad died 13 years ago there are still many memories and examples of his ingenuity around. I eventually brought his old workbench home today.

But I always peek at this pencil mark he made on the ceiling above the bed he was confided to for several months before he died. He had figured out that he needed a pulley to help him sit up in bed, and he cleverly taped a pencil to a walking stick so that he could mark the point on the ceiling where he wanted me to fix it. He quickly forgot about the idea (good job as it wasn't possible!) but I loved the ingenuity and cherish my secret mark. I'll have to ask Mom to avoid decorating that bit!
