Three Shires Head is the meeting place of Cheshire on the left hand side, Derbyshire in the background and Staffordshire from where this photo was taken. The old packhorse bridge was once on a route for transporting coal and silk to and from Macclesfield. Now it stands just above the infant River Dane and a couple of little pools where some people were taking respite from the hot sunshine by swimming despite the relatively low water level.
