Bonfire

In parts of Holland, Germany and Belgium people celebrate St. Martins Day on the 11th day of the 11th month. Mostly children parade the streets with paper lanterns and sing nice songs at every door and hope to get candy. There is a resemblance with Halloween but it's far from spooky, it's pretty cute actually.

Some - mostly rural area's - also light a big bonfire. This one was planned for the 11th, but didn't quite make it. Nevertheless everyone saw the fire from far away and had a surprise gathering.
