The tides out
Another boat picture l took at Leigh on sea. This is the Endeavour, a wooden cockling boat built in 1926. She has had a truly remarkable life including being one of the little boats that set off to France in May 1940 to rescue soldiers and civilians on the beaches of Dunkirk. For more information on the Endeavour Google
"A tale of Endeavour Leigh on sea".
If you saw the recent film Dunkirk, you would have seen the Endeavour starring in that film, going back to France again. The other boats tied up at the wharf are still in use today, fishing in the Thames estuary.
The extra is of the Thames estuary looking over towards Canvey Island and it's oil refineries. I will try to go there again soon at high tide.
