A Day of Rest
Sunday. A day to rest (particularly after the ridiculously busy day yesterday).
I (Annie) had a wonderful day near Oxford with some old friends. We observed the Armistice Day 2 minutes silence, trying to explain to a 5 year old why we were all sitting silently. We then had a brilliant Skype group conversation with 4 other friends who live in York and Switzerland. It took us around 25 minutes to get the video group conversation working - given all 8 of us work in IT, that's a bit hopeless! We had a pub lunch and then sat, talked and played with the kids. I impressed my friends' 2 years old with my knowledge that the blue engine with the number "2" was Edward, not Thomas - he may also be blue, but I'm not falling for that rookie tank engine mistake.
Days like this remind me that I love my friends so much. We are all scattered to the 4 winds and all so busy, but a day spent chatting with them is great for the soul. They're all brilliant. But what is it about video conferencing that makes you want to just sit and wave like an idiot?
I (Chris) had daughters (Immy and Rosie) for the day. After homework was completed, we headed off to the Chilterns to make the most of the clear sunny November day. The leaves were particularly gorgeous today, even the girls wanted the camera so that they could to grab a photo or two.
