Well, I was right yesterday, the heritage plaque outside St Mary's Church in West Derby is wrong. I states that the church was designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott and opened in 1856...GGS wasn't born until 1880 and was still around 20 when he was involved in the design of Liverpool Cathedral in the early 1900's. (died 1960). After trawling back through the records, it turns out the church was in fact designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott (1811-1878) his grandfather. I'm sure others must have noticed and informed those responsible for the plaque.
