Big spoons

Still wandering the Brisbane Southbank waterfront parklands, and quite cool they are. This is a water feature that Mr A had discovered and wanted me to see. We were on a wander that took in the waterfront, a trip to the conference venue for me to register and collect my pack, coffee with a contact (who brought his absolutely charming wife so Mr A had someone rather lovely to talk to), and then some conferencing on my part. But the conditions for conferencing were astonishingly bad - we're crammed into twenty booths in an enormous conference hall. All you can hear are men's voices coming out of the booths, and women are being edited out altogether. Whoever booked this conference venue didn't do their due diligence and come and see what it was like with twenty panels going on next to each other. Apparently there are improvements coming into place for tomorrow. Let's see. There have been lots of complaints (and tweeting, of course) and one fears that conference delegates will simply vote with their feet.

Met Mr A for a second visit to the Thai restaurant we went to on Friday. A great deal better than the rather identity-less "international" restaurant we ate in yesterday. And cheaper. And heading for another early night - hoping that I won't suddenly feel all alert when I'm actually trying to get to sleep. Feeling tired now, but I know from bitter experience of jetlag that it can feel quite different once you get into bed.
