Britannia Coconut

Littleborough was crowded today for the annual Rushbearing Festival. This involves a great deal of morris dancing by people wearing very particular costumes.  The black-faced chap in this image is a member of the Britannia Coconut Dancers from Bacup in Lancashire. Their origins are explained here.
