Rodents rule

Ode to Autumn

I visited the grounds of the new St Martin's College of Art at lunchtime and had photo fun with the leaves and the fountains.

In the evening, Jane and I headed to the Pre-Raphaelites exhibition at the Tate Britain, which is tremendous. I loved many of these images as a teenager, but prints just don't do them justice. The level of detail in the background foliage is stunning. My favourites were:

Mariana - John Everett Millais
Convent Thoughts - Charles Allston Collins
Tulip and Willow - William Morris
Ferdinand Lured by Ariel - John Everett Millais

There were a few good rabbit images, too, and one that Jane and I would have send back because we couldn't tell whether the animal was a rodent or a rabbit. The goat in that image was fine, though. We also thought that Holman-Hunt was far superior to Madox Brown when it came to painting sheep.

Unfortunately the tea shops were closed when we finished the exhibition so we persuaded a local pub to make us large cups of tea. We couldn't persuade them to cook us chips so we had to make do with crisps while we nattered about the state of our working world.
