Shining in the sunshine.
A lovely day spent with friends at Yorkshire Wildlife Reserve , Brockadale, near Kirk Smeaton. ( see map) Just off the A1.
A dull start turned into a hot sunny day.
A beautiful walk through the woods, along the river and limestone hillsides full of wildflowers.
I was surprised how much water there still was in the little river.
A lot of butterflies everywhere too.
We stopped for refreshments half way round at the pub in Kirk Smeaton.
As we returned to the car I was stunned by the brightness of these seed heads.
They looked like shining metal.
Not seen anything like them before.
I think they are the seed heads of Greater Knapweed. Centaurea Scabiosa
Hope some blipper will tell me if I am wrong.
Then back home and opened a bottle or two.
K and A ended up staying for an evening meal
of Thai Chicken Curry, and left in time to get home for Poldark.
I didn’t take many photos as we were too busy chatting. Had a lot of catching up to do.
All enjoyed the day immensely.
The extra is the unusual sky tonight.
Another extra of a lonely sunflower in a field of broad beans.
