Sreepur Village

At a very busy cathedral today, this delightful lady was selling embroidery items on behalf of Sreepur Village in Bangladesh. It is a fascinating story, some of which you can see on the extras. It started following the devastating war of independence that led to the formation of Bangladesh in 1971, there were many abandoned children on the streets of Dhaka. Soon after the war a small Canadian charity, Families for Children, established a children's home in an old colonial building in the Farmgate area of the city. The story moves on to the early involvement of a BA crew and embracing Ruby Porter MBE coming on to the scene. All in all a fascinating story, which can be viewed in detail on www.sreepurvillage.org. Mrs D was delighted with the small bundle of goodies purchased off the lady for the charity.
