~Jetliner Sunset~
~South By Southeast~
This jet plane it probably coming out of San Francisco and heading to maybe Mexico or South America. Soon, it will have to make a hard south turn because when it crosses the Mexican border it has to be heading due south. There is a narrow corridor at the border that international flights must pass through for air-traffic control reasons. After crossing the international border it can then resume it's correct heading. I would guess already at an altitude of say 20,000 feet and just cruising along. The plane and it condensation trail catching the light of the setting sun creating a nice contrast against the blue sky.
I'm fascinated by airplanes as I love watching them, can't get on one so this is a safe distance for me to enjoy their flight. Only flew once, in 1969, Los Angeles to Dallas, then a smaller prop-jet, from Dallas, Texas to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. That last leg of the trip to Army Basic Training was on Ozark Airlines, should have gotten off that thing the minute I saw the word "Ozark", just kidding if your from that part of the country. It had to make about six stops between Dallas and Leonard Wood. One stop was at a uncontrolled rural airfield at Fayetteville, Arkansas. We were about to touch down on the tarmac when the pilot gave the engines full throttled and we shot as close to straight up into the air as the plane could handle. The pilot circled around and landed, he was good at his job and knew how to fly that thing. When the 'one' passenger boarded he said that a small private plane was taking off and flew right under our jet. Never have flown since! From there on out I have chosen a nice and safe motorcycle for my mode of transportation.
Thanks for coming by, TucsonJim ;o)
