Brown Headed Gull
I got up and out this morning and was at the pool by 8.30am which was a good call as it was nice and quiet. By 9.15am children were starting to arrive, so during the school holidays that's going to be my plan as they aren't allowed in the outdoor pool until after 9am. I swam 50 lengths, and as I was swimming I kept seeing a huge centipede at the bottom of the pool, so when I'd finished I asked the life guard if he had a net. A lot of people walk and jog up and down the pool, so I didn't want someone standing on it as I wasn't sure if they sting or bite and looking on Google later, they can bite apparently. Anyway, the lifeguard got a very big net and I put my goggles back on and went under the water to guide the net and caught it.
After my swim I went to the supermarket to do a big food shop as Rachel and the girls are coming down tomorrow until Sunday, and by the time I got home and unpacked it all, it was time to go to work. I was running slightly late and got a bus a bit later than normal, but managed to get the limited stop bus, so made some time up. I have to change buses once I'm in town and there's a little shop that sells fabric and plastic table cloths, and I wanted to pick one up to cover the dining table while the girls are here, then it can just be wiped clean. Luckily I had enough time to call and get one.
I then saw a message that one of my photos has been chosen to be entered into the Argus Camera Club competition - the Argus is our local newspaper, so I wanted to pick up a copy. Anyway, I made it to work on time, it was very busy and the time flew! Alan picked me up at 8pm and as we were driving home I asked him if he fancied going for a stroll at the marina, which we did. It was nice to get some fresh air and it actually felt cool - it was only 23 degrees! It shows how we're adapting to the heat. We had a nice stroll along the boardwalk and I took photos of the boats, but tonight's blip is of a brown headed gull.
We have our windows open at night to try and cool the room down and for the last two nights we've had crickets suddenly landing on the living room floor, they're surprisingly big! Alan had to get my fishing net that I use to scoop things out of the hot tub to catch it, but then it's leg got caught through the net. He took it outside and luckily managed to free it, but not before I took a photo!
On that note, it's late so I'll say goodnight x
