twinned with trumpton

A day of ever decreasing circles.

With no particular agenda other than to get the phone fixed.

(It's not been charging for a few days; I left it on overnight and it reached the heady heights of 40%. It did the same thing a few months; Vodafone sent it away and it came back repaired, but the last week has seen it plummet in charge retention. I took it for a poke about on Friday; they pulled faces and said try it now we've removed fluff; I sceptically agreed. It didn't work so this was me going back for a resolution)

We cycled into Canonmills; chatted briefly with Shandonner as we regained breath for the march up Dublin Street.

Vodafone #1 said they would send for repair but didn't have a replacement phone for me there and then; perhaps Vodafone #2 at the other end of Princes St might have one? (They wouldn't check, I had to drag the boys 3/4 of a mile to find out). We went along and after explaining the situation to a disinterested person, she said she would put it on charge for 15 mins to show me ti was charging. 15 minutes in Sports Direct and we'd recharged the phone from 15% to 13%.
Rather than deal with it, why didn't I take it to Samsung on Hanover St? So we trotted halfway back to where we started and spoke to Samsung; - give us 2 hours and we'll let you know.
Great, more hnging about. So we took the oportunity to loaf inSt Andrew's Square; post a letter and then view RexComu1's work at the RSA, before returning to Samsung to be told the phone had water damage and would I mind paying £80 to fix it? Er yes.

Vodafone fixed it without a quibble 2-3 months ago. It's had no water near it (the driest summer on record, anyone?) but because it's 'showing signs' of water damage the warranty is null and void. Er, really? So if my car had a puncture, you wouldn't fix the broken headlight? The 'damage' has had no effect on the phone working or not working; there's a loose connection in the chargong port. No sir, that'll be £80.

No it fucking won't.

So eventually I left the phone with them, SIM in hand to be reinstalled into my old phone; said hi to her between doc and dentist; then went home for a few hours of peace.

Come 1930, we were off out for fitba in the hood. The Spartans v Killie in Fet Bred Cup (in) action. Killie swamped them for the first half hour but couldn't score, whereupon Spartans grew into the belief they could  actually do this. As the sun set, so did Spartans chances as late on Killie nabbed 3 goals and the gulf in class showed in the end. But a decent showing fae the hosts.

Home at dsck and showers / bed / LI / TDF / sleep.
