Thank you, five different ways
1. Big day today. A lot of planning has gone into the people attending the performance of Glasgow Girls tonight.
2. It dawns on me that I am responsible for 200 seats tonight. That's a hell of a gap, if no one shows. When the dust settles though, there are just three spare tickets. That's pretty good.
3. The dust takes a while to settle though - deaf theatre club, Unity, Drumchapel High, Here We Stay, Take A Stand... without doubt the most diverse audience I have ever seen in a theatre. Ever.
4. And so the talk after the show. This has to be the biggest talk I've done. 18 people on stage and the stalls packed. I well up twice at the things that are said. A few technical hitches here and there, but all in all pretty high on the 'great event' scale.
5. Best of all is when someone speaks from the crowd. he's just been granted asylum here and he says thank you to everyone on the stage for making this show. Then, for all his friends who haven't been granted asylum he says thank you for them in their language - Turkish, Arabic, Kurdish, Albanian and French.
