Babies and interior design

Hated leaving Audrey today. Woke up before her again (starting to become a habit) and dived in the shower to get ready for my day of meetings. I had the baby monitor in the bathroom so saw her waking up and she was literally dancing in her crib. She seemed so excited about being alive. The last few days have been amazing for her - we suspect the new reflux medicine is working because she is such a happy little thing. In many ways it will make me sad if it is that, because it means she would have been happier a lot sooner had we got her on it a few months back.

My parents endured a commute of over and hour to our house this morning to look after her for us. This is on the back of a fourteen hour shift on Friday. I am so grateful to them. I literally couldn't be running my business without them right now. With their help I'm actually on top of things and feeling so much better about it.

The plan now is to work part-time so approximately 6 days a month if I can, split into 2 days in meetings in Nottingham and the rest working from home wherever possible. With my parents and Gemma, this is do-able. My husband's parents live a bit further away and unfortunately haven't taken to the childminding side of things. They were never fans of following the routine and we ended up having to take them to task on it a few weeks back. In fact, it has been a bit tense truth be told. We've made a decision to let them have more of a social involvement with Audrey in the future (when they eventually start talking to us again - eeeek!) Letting Grandparents be Grandparents, basically - in the hope that this will improve what's a bit of a broken down relationship at present, sadly :(

The weather was horrible as I climbed aboard my train to Nottingham today.

My meetings today were in The Lace Market, a beautiful part of the city. We were based at Tribe, a gem of a design agency right in the heart of The Lace Market. Their offices were stunning. Interior designed beautifully (see pic). Made me very envious. Would have loved to have grown my business to their size and had a creative workspace like that if events had been different. But then I met my husband, moved back to Manchester and Chuckles came along. I'll have to be content with having had a beautiful home instead. Even if it is currently being infiltrated by baby toys and paraphernalia. God bless her but babies and interior design do not mix!
