Surgery

So our daughters surgery went well on Monday, surgeon said the screws were 1mm and too big for her tiny bone fragment that broke off and was afraid of shattering it so he “skewered it with wire down threw the finger and out the other end which petrudes out of the finger with a cap on each end, but it’s under the plaster cast. He gave her some local anaesthetic in her hand to last 12 hours and when it wore off she experienced some mild pulsating in her thumb and a bit of throbbing which didn’t last thankfully. She’s coping well with it all, we have to take her to the fracture clinic to review healing next week, wire will need removed 2-3wks and new cast to stay on possibly 6-8weeks

Who knew a little 10yr old girl sitting on her hand and pressing down at the wrong angle would cause so much damage.

When I think of all her ballet positions, cartwheels, handstands, backward crabs positions she does daily and yet she has done this. Poor baby girl ;-(
